Your physician-led care team

A board-certified physician and a nurse practitioner, working from the same chart. Whoever you see already has your history, your medications and your last results in front of them, and if you would rather keep seeing the same provider, book with them each time.

Family Nurse Practitioner

Rachael Bowen, NP

Rachael Bowen is a Family Nurse Practitioner at Magnolia Primary Care. She came to primary care the long way around, through seven years in intensive care and then post-acute medicine, and it shows in how she works. She reads trends rather than snapshots, she is hard to rush, and she is unusually good at spotting the small change that matters six months before it becomes a problem.

And you should hold me to my end of it. If I say I will call you with your results, or have an answer for you by Thursday, hold me to that. The accountability runs in both directions here, and that is what makes it a partnership instead of an appointment.

Physician, board certified in Internal Medicine

Dr. Farhan Abdullah, DO

Dr. Farhan Abdullah is the Medical Director of Magnolia Primary Care and sees patients here. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and sets the clinical standards the practice follows.

So I want us watching your whole health, not one number at a time. Nobody prevents everything, and I would not promise you otherwise. But good medical care and a plan you can genuinely stick with changes the odds enormously, and it tends to buy you years that feel better rather than simply more of them.

Find what you need in two seconds

Thirty-eight pages covering what we treat and how. Rather than making you hunt through a menu, type what is going on and go straight to it.

This searches page titles only. Nothing you type is sent anywhere or recorded.

A smaller practice, on purpose

Most primary care in this area belongs to large hospital systems. That works well when you need a hospital. It works poorly when you need twenty unhurried minutes with somebody who knows your history and can adjust the medication you have been on for three years.

Magnolia is built the other way around. A physician-led team small enough that whoever you see already knows your chart, appointment slots long enough to finish the conversation, and openings held for patients who need to be seen quickly, so being sick does not mean a two-hour urgent care wait with a provider who has never met you.

Being independent matters too. When you need a specialist, the referral goes where it should rather than where a system directs it, and we send your records along and follow up to make sure the appointment actually happened. Referrals fail at the handoff far more often than they fail at the decision.

What that looks like in practice

  • One small team on one chart, so nobody re-reads your history from scratch
  • We hold openings each day for patients who need to be seen soon
  • Labs drawn in the office, not at a separate location on a different day
  • Results explained in plain language within two to three business days
  • Portal messaging for non-urgent questions, answered during office hours
  • Free parking twenty feet from the door, with no garage and no parking fee

Insurance accepted

We are in network with the major carriers across North Texas, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, Curative and Medicare, plus Medicaid through Aetna Better Health of Texas. Networks change every year, so check your specific plan below and call us if you are unsure.

No insurance, or would rather not use it? Our visit and lab prices are published. A lipid panel is $40 here against a median hospital charge of about $220, and we draw on site.

Not sure which plan you have?

Look at the front of your insurance card. The plan name is usually printed under the carrier logo, and it matters: being in network with a carrier's PPO does not mean being in network with its HMO or Marketplace product.

Call us with the plan name on your card and we will go through it with you, before you book anything.

What we take care of

Full-service primary care for adults, from your yearly physical to the conditions that need attention every few months. Labs drawn on site.

Conditions we treat

Each page below describes what care actually looks like here: what we check, what we prescribe, how often we follow up, and what we do when something is not working. Every one is reviewed by Dr. Farhan Abdullah, DO, who is board certified in Internal Medicine.

Ongoing conditions

Managed over time, on a schedule, with labs drawn before the visit so results are in hand when you sit down. A visit where the labs get drawn afterward is a visit where nothing gets decided.

Sudden and short-term

Seen quickly where we can, by a provider who already has your chart, your medication list and your allergies in front of her. That context changes the diagnosis more often than people expect.

Three steps, and the third one is the part most practices skip.

How it works

Online or by phone. We verify your insurance while you are on the line rather than leaving it to the front desk on the day. If we cannot see you when you need, we say so straight away instead of leaving you waiting on a callback.

Care for local teams

If you run a small business along the SH 114 corridor, in Southlake Town Square, or anywhere in the surrounding towns, we can take care of your people.

That means annual physicals your team can actually get scheduled, quick appointments when someone is sick instead of a half day lost to urgent care, and a real relationship with one provider rather than a rotating panel. For employers, the practical benefit is fewer lost days and fewer small problems that turn into large ones.

We are not selling a corporate wellness package or a membership program. This is ordinary primary care, billed to your employees' insurance like any other visit, with a practice close enough to reach on a lunch break.

Call the office and ask. We are happy to talk through what makes sense for the size of your team.

Establishing care

If you have not seen anyone in years, the first visit is a full physical with labs. It is the most useful appointment you can book, because it gives us a baseline set of numbers to compare everything against later. Most people who come in after a long gap have at least one number that needs attention, and almost none of them had symptoms.

If you already have a practice and are moving, bring your medication bottles and sign a records release at the first visit. We would rather read your last two years of results than repeat tests you had six weeks ago. Transferring care should not mean starting over.

If you are managing a condition that needs regular attention, we will set a follow-up schedule at that first visit and put the labs in ahead of each one, so the results are in front of us when you sit down rather than arriving three days later with no plan attached.

What we do not do

Being clear about this saves everyone a wasted trip. We see patients age 16 and older, so we do not provide pediatric care. We do not provide prenatal care, though we are glad to manage anything unrelated alongside your obstetric practice.

We are not an emergency room and not an urgent care. We are open Tuesday through Friday and Saturday afternoons, and we do not have an after-hours clinical line. Outside those hours, urgent care is the right choice. For chest pain, trouble breathing, one-sided weakness, slurred speech or a serious injury, call 911 rather than calling us first.

We also do not sell supplements, run cash-only membership programs, or offer testing that has no evidence behind it. If you want something in that category, we will tell you honestly what the evidence supports and let you decide.

Questions new patients ask

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes. We are a new practice with openings now, which means appointments are easy to get and you will not wait a month for a routine visit. That changes as a practice fills, so if you have been meaning to establish care, this is the easy window.

Do you take my insurance?

We accept most major commercial plans and Medicare. Networks change every year, so check our insurance page or call the office with your specific plan name before you book. Plan names are similar enough that guessing from the carrier logo gets people into trouble.

Who will I actually see at my appointment?

One of our two providers: Dr. Farhan Abdullah, DO, board certified in Internal Medicine and our Medical Director, or Rachael Bowen, NP, a Family Nurse Practitioner. Both work from the same chart. If you would like to keep seeing the same person, book with them each time; if you need to be seen quickly, book whoever has the earliest opening.

Do you see children?

No. We see patients age 16 and older only. We do not provide pediatric care, and we would rather tell you that on the phone than after you have driven over.

Can I be seen the same day if I am sick?

Often, yes. We hold openings each day for patients who are sick, and as a new practice our schedule has more room than most. Call as soon as we open and we will tell you honestly what we have. See our sick visits page.

How long is a typical appointment?

About 45 minutes for a new patient visit or an annual physical, and 20 to 30 minutes for a follow-up. We build the schedule around that rather than trying to compress it, which is the main practical difference between a small practice and a large one.

Can you take over my prescriptions and chronic conditions from another practice?

Yes. Bring your medication bottles or a printed list, and sign a records release at your first visit so we can pull your recent labs instead of repeating everything.

Do you offer video visits?

Yes, for the problems that do not need an exam room: medication follow-ups, lab result reviews, mental health follow-ups and blood pressure check-ins. See our telehealth page for what works on video and what does not.

Where exactly are you and is parking easy?

We are on Kirkwood Blvd in Southlake, just off the SH 114 corridor. Free surface parking directly in front of the building, no garage and no fee. Directions and map.

What if I need a specialist?

We refer and we send your records with the referral, then follow up to make sure the appointment happened. We are independent, so referrals go where they should rather than where a hospital system directs them.
